The Type E is the EMC version of our hygienic cable gland. It seals cable entries to the same hygienic standard as the Type S – SS316L (1.4404) body, blue FDA seals, IP68/IP69K – and adds electromagnetic shielding for equipment that must meet electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) requirements. It suits food, beverage and pharmaceutical machinery built around sensitive electronics.
What the EMC version adds
On top of the standard hygienic gland, the Type E provides electromagnetic shielding for the cable, helping keep electromagnetic interference from coupling into, or radiating out of, your cabling. Everything that makes the Type S hygienic stays the same – the curved SS316L body, double sealing ring, blue FDA seals and IP68/IP69K rating – so you get EMC performance without giving up cleanability or ingress protection.
Why it matters
Modern food and pharma lines are full of sensitive electronics: sensors, drives, servo motors, weighing and vision systems. Electromagnetic interference can cause signal errors and nuisance trips, and equipment may need to pass EMC testing. The Type E addresses this at the cable entry, in a gland that still passes hygienic washdown.
Specifications
Same core specs as the Type S (SS316L (1.4404), blue H-NBR and food-grade silicone seals, Ra < 0.8 µm, IP68 / IP69K, 3-A / FDA), with EMC shielding added. Same thread sizes and cable ranges; the EMC version’s gland length (GL) is marginally greater on M12–M20.

Installation
The Type E installs like the Type S; the anti-rotation insert holds the cable steady as you tighten the pressure screw. Make sure the cable shield is properly terminated for your EMC setup before final sealing.

Frequently asked questions
Does the EMC version stay hygienic?
Yes – the same hygienic SS316L design, blue FDA seals and IP69K rating as the standard Type S; the shielding is internal.
When do I need Type E instead of Type S?
When the enclosure or cable run must meet EMC/EMI requirements, or when you see interference on sensors, drives or instrumentation. For ordinary hygienic sealing, the Type S is enough.
Are the sizes the same as the Type S?
Yes – M12×1.5 to M32×1.5 for cables Ø4.5 to 25 mm.
