Hygienic Handles
Our Hygienic Stainless Steel Handle Range
VAYTRON hygienic handles give equipment doors and panels a strong, comfortable grip without the crevices, exposed bolts or dead space where soil and bacteria collect. Each handle is machined from 316L or 304 stainless steel, finished to Ra < 0.8 µm and sealed against the panel with blue HNBR or EPDM seals — a food-detectable signal colour — so it stays cleanable through daily high-pressure washdown. The range is 3-A Sanitary certified for food, dairy and beverage equipment. Pick a model below for full specifications, or read the selection guide underneath.

What a hygienic handle does, and why a standard handle is not enough
A handle is gripped constantly and bolted to a panel — and both the surface and the mounting are contamination risks. Ordinary handles have exposed fasteners, an open gap between the handle foot and the panel, and sharp internal corners; soil, moisture and product residue collect there and resist cleaning.
A hygienic handle is built the opposite way. The bar is a smooth, continuous radius with no sharp angles, the mounting threads are concealed, and blue HNBR or EPDM seals under each foot close the gap around the bolt holes so there is no crevice or dead zone at the joint. With surfaces finished to Ra < 0.8 µm, the whole handle drains and wipes clean, and survives CIP and high-pressure washdown without giving bacteria anywhere to build up.
Certifications, and what each one means
Specifications matter more than logos. Here is what ours actually cover:
- 3-A Sanitary certified — the handle design and materials are certified to the 3-A Sanitary Standards for hygienic processing equipment in dairy, food and beverage.
- Designed to meet EHEDG principles — cleanable surfaces, generous radii and sealed mounting with no dead space, following EHEDG hygienic-design guidance.
- FDA-compliant materials — the blue HNBR or EPDM seals use food-contact-compliant compounds (FDA 21 CFR), and 316L / 304 stainless are food-grade.
- Sealed, detectable mounting — the blue signal-colour seal under the mounting foot blocks ingress and removes the crevice around the fixing holes; blue does not occur in food, so a stray fragment is easy to spot.
Choose the right handle
All three share the same hygienic design, 3-A certified construction, materials and finishes; choose by mounting size and load.
- A005HD-10 (Compact) — Ø10 mm bar, M4 mounting, hole centres 88–192 mm, 40 mm height. For cabinet doors, control and electrical panels and lighter access doors.
- A005HD-12 (Heavy-duty) — Ø12 mm bar, M6 mounting, hole centres 100–288 mm, 46–50 mm height. For machine frames, larger or heavier doors and equipment that takes a firm pull.
- A005-HD (Classic D-handle) — the standard hygienic U/D pull, available across both bore sizes.

Where they are used
Anywhere equipment is washed down and product safety is essential: dairy, cheese and beverage processing; bottling and filling lines; bakery and confectionery; meat, poultry and seafood lines; pharmaceutical production and packaging; biotechnology and cleanrooms; medical equipment; and electrical and control cabinets in washdown areas.
Why source from VAYTRON
As an integrated manufacturer, we machine, polish and seal in-house, which keeps quality consistent and lead times short. Every handle is 3-A Sanitary certified, has a true Ra < 0.8 µm finish, blue HNBR or EPDM seals that are easy to spot, and a choice of 304 or 316L in mirror-polished or brushed finish. We offer the full A005-HD size range plus custom hole centres, lengths, threads and grades, support OEM requirements and flexible order quantities, and can provide 3-A documentation and material certificates (MTR) on request.
Frequently asked questions
304 or 316L — which handle grade do I need?
316L (1.4404) resists chlorides and acidic cleaning agents far better than 304, so it is the safer choice for salt-, brine- and disinfectant-heavy washdown, and for pharmaceutical and coastal plants. 304 (1.4301) suits general food areas and lighter cleaning. We supply both.
How do I choose the size?
Measure the hole centres (CC) on your door or panel, then pick the bar size to match the load: Ø10 / M4 (CC 88–192 mm) for compact cabinet doors, Ø12 / M6 (CC 100–288 mm) for heavier equipment. Send your CC and we will confirm the part number.
Are these handles 3-A or EHEDG certified?
Our hygienic handles are 3-A Sanitary certified. The design also follows EHEDG hygienic-design principles, and the blue HNBR or EPDM seals are FDA-compliant for food contact. 3-A documentation is available on request.
Why are the seals blue?
Blue is the food-industry signal colour: it does not occur naturally in food, so a stray fragment is easy to see. The blue HNBR or EPDM seals under the mounting foot also close the crevice around the bolt holes and keep water out during washdown.
Mirror-polished or brushed?
Both are produced to Ra < 0.8 µm. Mirror polish (PSS) gives the most easily cleaned, brightest surface; brushed (BSS) hides minor handling marks in service. Either meets the hygienic surface target.
Can you do custom sizes or OEM?
Yes — custom hole centres, lengths, threads and 304/316L grade, and OEM marking, alongside the standard 3-A certified A005-HD range.
